The map below shows the proposed Local and Farm-to-Market funded construction projects proposed for FY 2011 and FY 2012 (July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012).   This year's five year construction program was approved by the Board of Supervisors on April 12, 2011.   Construction and/or completion of these projects is dependent upon funding availability and could be impacted by other factors such as delay of approvals from various agencies, or acquisition of right-of-way.    Additional project maps for subsequent years' construction programs are also shown and can be clicked on to be displayed.  

The Iowa Code requires that the Board of Supervisors with assistance of the County Engineer shall on or before April 15th of each year adopt a Secondary Road Construction Program consisting of a Project Accomplishment List fro the next fiscal year and a Project Priority List for the succeeding four fiscal years based upon the construction funds, Local and Farm-to-Market, that may be available for the time period.

This year some major adjustments were made in construction programming in recognition of increased construction costs and declining revenues.    The construction cost index has increased by over 50% since fiscal year 2000, while revenues have remained relatively static.   Some grading for paving and new paving projects have been removed from the program.   The emphasis in the new five year program is on maintenance and rehabilitation of the existing pavements along with gradual improvements to the county bridge system through bridge replacements.
