OCTOBER 25, 2011 — FORTY-THIRD MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Board members present were Monson, Clausen, and Smith; Tripp and Boykin were absent. Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator, Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board. The Claims were approved as presented. Copy filed. The meeting was called to order. The Board approved the reclassification of Rachael Edmundson, Asst. County Attorney, County Attorney Dept., effective 11-09-11, $55,554/year, 5%=$2,666/year. Per AFSCME Asst. County Attorney Contract agreement, from Step 2 to Step 3. Copy filed. Motion by Smith second by Clausen to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Resolution approving abatement of taxes for Cheryl Laier, 2306 S. Patterson St, Sioux City, parcel #884706282002. Carried 3-0. WOODBURY COUNTY, IOWA Parcel # 8847 06 282 002 WHEREAS, Cheryl Laier, as joint titleholders of the aforementioned property has petitioned the Board of Supervisors for a suspension of taxes pursuant to the 1999 Iowa Code Section 447.9(3) and, WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes from documents provided that the petitioner is unable to provide to the public revenue; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby directs the County Auditor to redeem this property Parcel #884706282002 owned by the petitioner from the holder of a certificate of purchase of the amount necessary to redeem under section 447.1, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to so record the approval of this tax suspension for this parcel. SO RESOLVED this 25th day of October, 2011. Motion by Clausen second by Smith to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Resolution setting the public hearing and sale date for Parcel #328740, 1102 Logan St., Sioux City. Carried 3-0. RESOLUTION # 10,833 WHEREAS Woodbury County, Iowa was the owner under a tax deed of a certain parcel of real estate described as: Lot Eight, Block Twenty, Long View Addition to Sioux City, Woodbury NOW THEREFORE, 1. That a public hearing on the aforesaid proposal shall be held on Motion by Smith second by Clausen to approve renewal of a 1-year Class C beer permit with Sunday sales privileges for Chet’s Moville Market, 741 Frontage Road, Moville, Iowa, effective 11/12/11 through 11/11/12. Carried 3-0. Copy filed. Motion by Clausen second by Smith to authorize the Chairman to sign an agreement with the City of Anthon combining city precincts with township precincts, per recommendation by Patrick Gill, County Auditor. Carried 3-0. Copy filed. Motion by Smith second by Clausen to authorize the Chairman to sign an agreement with the City of Danbury combining city precincts with township precincts, per recommendation by Patrick Gill, County Auditor. Carried 3-0. Copy filed. Motion by Clausen second by Smith to authorize the Chairman to sign an agreement with the City of Lawton combining city precincts with township precincts, per recommendation by Patrick Gill, County Auditor. Carried 3-0. Copy filed. Motion by Smith second by Clausen to approve the final Platting of Jason Addition, a Minor Subdivision, GIS Parcel #864428400005 and forward the platting to the Zoning Commission for recommendations, per recommendation of John Pylelo. Carried 3-0. Whereas, Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated in communities all over America from October 23 to October 31, 2011, and, Whereas, Red Ribbon Week celebrates the memory of Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique Camarena who was tortured and violently murdered in 1985 by drug traffickers while serving as an undercover drug agent in Mexico; and, Whereas, the National Red Ribbon Campaign offers citizens the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle (no use of illegal drugs, no illegal use of legal drugs) by wearing and displaying Red Ribbons; “Red Ribbon Week” and call upon all Citizens to join Jackson Recovery Centers, Siouxland CARES, and Woodbury County, Iowa, in its community-wide effort to promote a safe, healthy and drug-free community Discussion of funding with the local chapter of Pheasants Forever. The Chairman asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns. Motion by Clausen second by Smith to go into closed session for General Relief Appeal for Brandon Rholl per Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(a). Carried 3-0 on a roll-call vote. Motion by Clausen second by Smith to go out of closed sessions per Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(a). Carried 3-0 on a roll-call vote. Annual review of activities and future projects by County Sheriff was postponed. |
